Arlean M. Smith, Trustee
Arlean M. Smith was born in Carthage, Arkansas. She received God at an early age. As a Member of the Bethel AME Church (Carthage, Arkansas) at the age of 16 and 17 she served as the Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School. After graduating from Carthage High School, she attended the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. Arlean earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in education. Shortly after graduating from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Arlean was hired by the Clark County School District to teach First and Second Grade. She served as the Clark County Classroom Teacher’s Association (CCCTA) Secretary and a Reading Specialist. Arlean also holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Instruction. She retired from the Clark County School District after teaching for 34 years. She returned to teaching at a private Christian school, Cornerstone Christian Academy, for 15 years.
After moving to Las Vegas, she joined Zion United Methodist Church and served as the Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School. As one of the founding members of The Great Commission Interdenominational Church, she served as a Choir Director and the Superintendent of Sunday School for 30 years under the leadership of Bishop Sylvester Hooks.
Arlean now serves as a Trustee of the Abundant Heart Community Church.
