Dana Whitaker, Young Adult Director
Dana Whitaker is the Director of the “Young Abundant Life” ministry which serves women and men ages 18-30. She has a love for the Lord and understands young adults need love and support as they grow in the Lord and deal with the struggles of life.
She was born in Las Vegas, NV and graduated from Western High School. She has a degree in Marketing and Merchandising from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She grew up in the church but did not understand how to live by faith until she studied under Bishop S. Hooks. Bishop Hooks taught the Word in a way that could be applied to her everyday life as a young woman and mother who was still a baby in Christ. It is through his teachings she established a strong foundation of faith.
Dana later lived in Washington (state) for 15 years where she attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the youth director of the “Soldiers of Praise” youth group. She kept the youth growing and learning through community outreach, praise dance, singing, creative arts and various activities within the local community and church.
She has 3 children and 2 grandchildren. She has a breathe of knowledge and wisdom gained through the experiences of her life that there is likely nothing you have been through, going through, experienced or will experience that she hasn’t been exposed to herself. Dana wants to encourage and help others through her life experiences to live for Christ. Her goal is to equip young adults with the life skills to handle the challenges that will occur in their lives as they grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dana’s desire is to continue to learn and grow in the Lord so that she can be supportive of God’s vision for the growth of Abundant Heart Community Church, His kingdom, and His children. Dana believes in God’s vision for the Abundant Heart Community Church and its leadership. She feels honored to be given this opportunity to answer God’s call for her life. She would tell you to “keep your eyes on Jesus”.
Hebrews 12:1-2
“1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
